He enlisted in the army at the age of 17, following his older siblings Dave, who joined the army, and his sister Jean who joined the air force. Bill served in Holland as a driver with the Engineers. Dave served in Italy. Jean remained in the air force after the war. Bill met up with his sister and brother while all were on leave in Scotland. Bill worked for Civic Hydro and died in 1985. Jean died in 2018 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Soldat Bill McGill : Bill est arrivé au Canada en 1929 à l’âge de cinq ans. Il s’est enrôlé dans l’armée à l’âge de 17 ans, à la suite de ses frères et sœurs aînés Dave, qui a rejoint l’armée, et de sa sœur Jean qui a rejoint l’armée de l’air. McKENZIE, Archibald E.G. WWI/Première Guerre mondiale Archibald was born in Campbellton, NB on January 21, 1878. Prior to enlisting with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in February 1915 he served with the 73rd Regiment for 15 years. In September, he was sent overseas and was posted to the 26th Battalion (NB) as their commanding officer. Lt. Col McKenzie survived the action at Vimy Ridge but was killed instantly by shrapnel at Monchy, France on August 28, 1918. He is buried in the Wancourt British Cemetery in Pas de Calais, France. Archibald was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Order with Bar and Mentioned in Dispatches in January 1917 and December 1918. Archibald est né le 21 janvier 1878 à Campbellton, au N.-B. McLEAN, Robert Harry “Hooch” Peacetime/Temps de paix Hooch was born on December 14, 1931. He enlisted with the Canadian Army and served with the 1st Battalion Blackwatch in Canada, Germany and Cyprus (3 tours). He was awarded the CMM, his CD, the UNDOF, the UNFICYP, the Peacekeeper Medal and the SSM with NATO Bar. Hooch was proud to be a 40-plus year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Oromocto Branch 93 and Alfred Ashburn Branch 71. He passed away on September 13, 2020. Hooch est né le 14 décembre 1931.
