Kelly, Royal Canadian Navy: George was born in 1924 and served with the RCN from 1942 to 1945. He served aboard three ships, the river-class frigate HMCS Eastview, the flower-class corvette HMCS Moncton (built at the St. John Drydock), and the river-class corvette HMCS Penetang. Following his return from overseas after VE Day, he was deployed to the Pacific coast where following VJ Day, George was honourably discharged through the naval shore facility HMCS Naden at Esquimalt. His brothers Albert and Bob also served in the RCN during WWII. After the war George worked for the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1985. George died in 2011. George est décédé en 2011. KETCHUM,Walter “Bob” WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Private Walter “Bob” Ketchum, Canadian Army. Walter, known as Bob to family and friends, trained in Nova Scotia and Alberta before shipping to England with the North Shore Regiment in 1940. He served with the unit on the D-Day invasion and then saw service in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Bob was discharged in 1946 and worked as a farmer. Bob died in 2011. His brother George also served in the Army. Murray enlisted in the artillery in September 1939. Like many veterans he did not speak much about his war service. He did serve in the UK and on Continental Europe, including Holland. Murray was discharged in 1946. After the war Murray worked as a streetcar driver and then as a bus driver. He then joined the Saint John Fire Department, serving there for thirty years. Murray died in 1999. Artilleur G. Murray King, Artillerie royale canadienne. Murray s’est enrôlé dans l’artillerie en septembre 1939.
