He moved to Flatlands, NB with his family at an early age. He enlisted with the R.C.I.C on August 1, 1940 and served with the Royal Rifles of Canada in Canada and Hong Kong. Rifleman Irvine was killed in action on Christmas Day, 1941 during the Battle of Hong Kong. His name is listed on the Sai Wan Memorial in Victoria, Hong Kong. Bertie was the recipient of the 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-1945, CVSM and Clasp. Bertie est né à Québec le 17 janvier 1921. Il a déménagé très jeune à Flatlands, au N.-B., avec sa famille. Il s’est enrôlé dans le R.C.I.C le 1er août 1940 et a servi avec les Royal Rifles of Canada au Canada et à Hong Kong. Le carabinier Irvine a été tué au combat le jour de Noël 1941 lors de la bataille de Hong Kong. Son nom est inscrit sur le Mémorial Sai Wan à Victoria, Hong Kong. JONES, Lloyd WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Lloyd was born in 1919 in Grangeville, NB. He served with the Army in European Countries. He died in 1948. JOY, William Edward WWI/Première Guerre mondiale William was born on April 30, 1886 in Seal Cove, Grand Manan, New Brunswick and enlisted at the age of 29 to join The Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Forces. William was deemed medically unfit for service after battling nephritis and was discharged on May 21, 1918.
