95 The Royal Canadian Legion www.mbnwo.legion.ca FAIRBAIRN, George Alfred WWI George was born on April 16, 1882, to Sidney and Lucy (Carr) Fairbairn in Hensall, Huron County, Ontario. After moving west to Minnedosa, Manitoba at a young age, George enlisted with the 78th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on July 30, 1916. He was sent overseas and served with the 5th Battalion in France and Flanders. George received his discharge on May 7, 1919. He never married and worked as a druggist in McCreary and Neepawa, Manitoba. George passed away on July 20, 1945, at the Deer Lodge Military Hospital in Winnipeg and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Manitoba, Lot 18, Block 5, Range 7. FEARNS, James “Jim” WWII Jim was born on November 29, 1907 in Liverpool, England, and immigrated to Canada with his widowed mother, Margaret, in 1920. He went to work for the CNR railway and spent the next forty years there, except for the war years. In 1942, Jim enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served from July 13, 1942 until October 24, 1945. He and his wife, Florence Agnew, were married on June 30, 1939 and they resided in Neepawa. Jim passed away on February 12, 1986 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Lot 3, Block 11, Range 13. FEARNS, William WWII William was born about 1911 in Liverpool, England and immigrated to Canada in 1920 with his widowed mother Margaret. He married Vivian Olstead on September 21, 1937 and lived in Ladner, BC. He served in the Army during World War II.William passed away on January 13, 1988 in New Westminster, BC and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Manitoba, Lot 1, Block 11, Range 13.
