201 The Royal Canadian Legion www.mbnwo.legion.ca WATSON, Clarence William WWI Clarence was born on July 22, 1897, to William and Josephine (Smith) Watson in the RM of Westbourne (Lakeland). He enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion (Manitoba Regiment) on May 13, 1918, and received his discharge on September 23, 1919. Clarence married his wife, Jennie McLaughlin, in January 1925 in the Langford Municipality (NeepawaBrookdale area). He passed away and was buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Lot 12, Block 3, Range A). WATSON, George Ronald WWII George was born to George and Gertrude (Elliot) Watson on May 30, 1922, in Rosser, Manitoba. On November 24, 1942, at the age of twenty, he left his job as a mechanic at the Model Garage in Stonewall to join the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Winnipeg. He followed his two older brothers overseas and went to England, Sicily and Italy where George was killed in action on May 23, 1944. He is buried in the Canadian National Cemetery, south of Pontecorno, in central Italy. George was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 Star, and Italy Star. WATSON, Harvey Austin WWII Harvey was born to George and Gertrude (Elliott) Watson on November 15, 1915 in Baldur, Manitoba. He joined the Canadian Forces on June 16, 1942 in Portage la Prairie, and after serving in England as a transport instructor and artillery gunner, volunteered for service in Sicily and Italy. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 Star, and Italy Star. Harvey was discharged on November 17, 1945 after which he farmed at Argyle, Manitoba and married Edna Dennis from Balmoral. After two children were born, the family moved into Argyle where Harvey became the Postmaster, school bus driver, and a contractor until his retirement. Harvey was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brant-Argyle Branch 222 for 36 years. He died on November 29, 1984 and is buried in the Brant-Argyle Cemetery in Argyle.
