161 The Royal Canadian Legion www.mbnwo.legion.ca PAULL, George Eddie WWII George was born in Northumberland, England on June 22, 1903. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on August 21, 1942 and served with the S.F.T.S. in Canada during World War II. F/O George Paull was discharged in Winnipeg on June 27, 1946. He and his wife Mary had one son, William George. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. George passed away on August 8, 1979. PERKES, Ted WWI Ted was born in Cardinal, Ontario on January 10, 1891. He came to Manitoba in 1908. Ted joined the 144 Battalion in 1915 and served in France and in Belgium. He was wounded in action in 1917 and spent six months in hospital in England. Ted married Ethel Lobb on November 9, 1919, and their daughter Olive was born in 1926. He farmed SW 18-13-12. Ted passed away in 1976 and is buried in Gladstone Cemetery. PETTITT, Eric Hockley WWII Eric was born in 1921, to Harry and Edith (Hurst) Pettitt, in Lansdowne Municipality (Arden). The family moved to Neepawa in 1934. Eric enlisted on October 17, 1942, and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He spent four years in the army working as a payroll clerk and stenographer. In 1946, he took over his father’s painting and decorating business where he worked until 1973. He then went to work at the East View Lodge Personal Care Home. Eric married Connie Klapp on October 17, 1942, and they resided in Neepawa. He passed away on February 13, 2004, and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Lot 20, Block 10, Range 22.
