He enlisted in the Army (service number H17057) in Winnipeg on March 13, 1940 and served overseas with the Prov. Corps, RCASE during World War II. Private Robert Pollon was discharged in Winnipeg in October 1945 and he received the Service Medal. He and his wife Grace E. had one daughter, Ellen Grace. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. Robert passed away on August 1, 1990. POPP, Peter WWII Peter was born in Truax, Saskatchewan on September 6, 1923. He enlisted in the Army in Regina on February 4, 1943 and served overseas with the CAC and CPC during World War II. Corporal Peter Popp was discharged in Winnipeg on March 11, 1947. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He and his wife Sally had one son, Keith Brian. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. Peter passed away on June 12, 2013. PRITCHARD, William “Lawrence” WWII Lawrence was born in Rathwell in 1908. He was raised on a farm in Rathwell along with three brothers and two sisters. Lawrence joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada in November 1942. He qualified as a Class III driver with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Lawrence was killed in action on October 23, 1944, in Holland. He is commemorated at the Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. Pritchard Island in Red Sucker Lake was named after him in 1995. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945 and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.
