121 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LANGLEY, Joel RESERVES Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Joel Langley was born in London, Ontario on December 19, 1965, as a middle child to an older sister and a younger brother, to Anita and Emil Langley. Interested in the military early in life, he joined the RCSS Courageous Sea Cadet Corps at the age of thirteen in 1978 until 1981. Later, he joined the reserves and served with 4th Royal Canadian Regiment in 1985 until his enrollment in the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1986, from his hometown of London, Ontario. Upon completion of artillery training at CFB Shilo, MB, May 1986, CWO Langley was posted to CFB Petawawa and served in the Airborne Regiment with E Battery Para, 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (RCHA). In July 1990, he was posted to 1 RCHA mechanized artillery regiment at CFB Lahr, Germany. After the closure of Lahr, CWO Langley was posted to CFB Shilo after 1 RCHA was relocated. CWO Langley occupationally transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aerospace Control Operator in 1998. He was then posted to 22 Wing, North Bay, Ontario as a Surveillance and Identification Technician for the Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) supporting the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD). Subsequent postings were: The Canadian Armed Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations in Cornwall, ON as an Air Defence instructor; Elmdorf, AFB in Alaska where he flew onboard the E3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) as an Airborne Surveillance Technician and a battle staff for NORAD; 1 Canadian Air Division in Winnipeg, MB as a member of A3 Aerospace Coordination, then to A3 Force Protection and Readiness; 552 ACW Canadian Detachment at Tinker, AFB in Oklahoma City on his second AWACS tour. He was the Unit Master Warrant Officer of the Canadian Detachment his last year at Tinker and was then posted to Bagotville as Squadron Warrant Officer of 2 Wing Air Expeditionary Training Squadron. Most recently, CWO Langley, upon promotion to Chief Warrant Officer, was posted to 4 Mission Support Squadron as the Squadron Chief Warrant Officer, until retirement on July 5, 2022, with over 37 years of service. CWO Langley has accumulated more than 1250 flying hours onboard the E3 AWACS. He has deployed to the former Yugoslavia, the Winnipeg Floods, the Canadian Winter Olympics, the Toronto G8/G20, Afghanistan, Curacao supporting counter drug operations, Op RENAISSANCE 1701 as the ATF CWO, Op CADENCE as the Ops Superintendent, and Op LENTUS18-05 as the ATF CWO. CWO Langley is married to Shauna Langley (former Sandstorm) and has two children, Benjamin Langley and Emily Buyachek. Upon retirement, CWO Langley and Shauna have settled in the Minnedosa area. He is a two-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Minnedosa Branch 138. His medals include: Member of the Order of Military Merit, General Campaign Star – Southwest Asia, Operational Service Medal Humanitas, Special Service Medal NATO, Canadian Peacekeepers Medal, UN Protection Force (Yugoslavia), Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, Canadian Forces Decoration Second Clasp. LEE, Dudley Colimore WWII Dudley was born on May 23, 1923, to Ernest and Eileen (Exham) Lee in Saskatchewan. They lived in various places in western Manitoba and Saskatchewan before moving to Basswood, Manitoba in 1946 and finally in Neepawa in 1956. Dudley joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot in August 1942. Later in 1942, he was sent overseas and served as a bomber pilot with the RAF 200 Squadron in Africa and also with the RCAF 400 Squadron in England. After the war was over, Dudley returned home and then to Neepawa where he owned an implement business, Plains Farm Equipment, until about 1973. He then established an egg production business on his farm east of Neepawa. He married Ida Simpson in 1948 and after her passing in 1987, he married her sister, Ina. They retired into Neepawa in 1999. Dudley currently resides in Elks Manor in Neepawa.
