67 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca BOUGHTON, Wilbur Allan WWII Wilbur was born on December 15, 1919, to Wilfrid and Edith Boughton in Neepawa, Manitoba. He moved into the village of Arden in 1931 and received his education at Arden Consolidated. Wilbur enlisted in the Royal Canadian Service Corps taking “power wiring” in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and “signals” in Hamilton and Kingston, Ontario. He was overseas as far as Caen and Falaise.Wilbur was discharged in 1945 and returned to Canada where he enrolled in the University of Manitoba and studied Engineering. After working in the city for a while, he returned to Arden. There he did some electrical work and worked as a postmaster for more than 25 years. In 1984, he retired due to a stroke. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23 and Arden Branch 144. Wilbur passed away on October 27, 1990, and is buried in the Arden Cemetery. BOWES, Walter John WWII Walter was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on April 6, 1924. He enlisted in the navy in Saskatoon on April 6, 1943 and served with the RCNVR on the Atlantic during World War II. He was discharged in Winnipeg on September 21, 1945. He worked in a machine shop prior to his service. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. John passed away on February 28, 2007. BOYES, Edward Alexander WWII Edward was born in Star City, Saskatchewan on August 28, 1917. He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg on May 7, 1943 and served in Italy with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during World War II. Private Edward Boyes was discharged in Winnipeg on February 8, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He and his wife Mary had two daughters, Jean and Margaret. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. Edward passed away on June 18, 1968.
