He enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1943 and served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on June 13, 1946. Lance Corporal Nicolas Wasyluk received the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was married to Josie. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23 for sixty years from 1946 to 2006. Nicolas passed away on July 23, 2006. WATERS, John William “Jack” WWII Jack was born on July 11, 1913, to Walter and Janet (Johnston) Waters in Alberta. They returned to Manitoba in 1915 and moved to Riding Mountain in 1918. He married Georgina Barclay in April 1939 and eventually moved to Neepawa where he worked at the airport. Jack enlisted in the army when World War II broke out and served overseas in Canada, the United Kingdom and northwestern Europe. He served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Armoured Corps then to 4th Armoured Brigade H.Q. Company until his discharge on June 8, 1946. Private John Waters received the France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 War Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. His wife died in 1955 and he remarried Gladys McCullough Middleton in 1959. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. Jack passed away on February 3, 2011 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery. WICKETT, George H. WWII George was born in Brandon, Manitoba in 1918. He enlisted in Brandon in 1940 and served in both the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Army in Canada during World War II. Sargeant George Wickett was discharged in 1945. He was married to Ethel Roberta. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. George passed away in 2002.
