He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on June 10, 1941 and served as a Wireless Air Gunner, Ferry Command and Air Instructor in Scotland; Cairo, Egypt; South Africa; Canada and Bahamas. He was discharged in Winnipeg on August 30, 1945. Carl received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was married to Enid Green Away. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. Carl passed away on September 6, 1984. STEWART, Donald C. WWII Donald was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1918. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and 1 Cdn Fd. Coy RCE in Canada, England and northwestern Europe during World War II. He received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-1945. Donald passed away in 2006. STEWART (SMART), Doris O. WWII Doris was born in Rathwell, Manitoba in 1920. She enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, #5 Platoon B Company and served in Winnipeg and Red Deer and Vermilion, Alberta during World War II. She married Glen Stewart and they raised one son and four girls. Glen remained in the Air Force hence they lived all over Canada eventually retiring in Winnipeg. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Winnipeg Branch 4. Doris passed away in 2008.
