199 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca McGORMAN, Harvey Anson WWII Harvey was born on April 1, 1920, to Walter and Ida (Stevens) McGorman in Glenholm, Manitoba. He received his education there and afterwards he ran a mink ranch on his father’s farm. In January 1941, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and was sent to train in Portage la Prairie and Camp Shilo. He then transferred to the Royal Rifles of Canada before being sent overseas on July 16, 1944. Six days later, his regiment was shipped to France. It was during these battles that Harvey lost his life. Corporal Harvey McGorman was killed in action on August 28, 1944 and was buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Basse-Normandie, France. McGorman Lake (64 I/5) south of Shethanei Lake was named after him in 1974. McGORMAN, Lorne Walter WWII Lorne was born on March 25, 1925, to Walter and Ida (Stevens) McGorman in Eden, Manitoba. He spent his early years farming around Neepawa. Lorne enlisted and served with the Canadian Army during World War II. He married Audrey McFayden on June 26, 1946 and they moved to Winnipeg in 1953 where they spent their lives. He worked for Subterranean Ltd. until his retirement in 1990. After Audrey’s death, he married Helen Potter. Lorne passed away on December 31, 2005 and was buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa. McINTOSH, Harvey F. WWII Harvey was born in MacGregor, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Army and took his basic training in Shilo, Manitoba then was sent to England in the spring of 1943. He served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England, Italy, Belgium and Holland and was discharged in 1945. A member of MacGregor Legion Branch from 1945, Harvey died in 2000.
