197 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca McGORMAN, Clayton Charles WWII Clayton was born on July 29, 1913, to Charles and Elizabeth (McMillan) McGorman in Arden, Manitoba. Leading Aircraftman Clayton McGorman enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in January 1941 and served as a mechanic at No. 1 A.N.S. in Rivers, Manitoba. Clayton married Ivadel Newton on November 1, 1941 and they farmed north of Kelwood until his death. He passed away on June 7, 1986 in Neepawa and was buried there at Riverside Cemetery, Lot 6, Block 4, Range 25. McGORMAN, Donald Jackson “Don” WWII Don was born on July 3, 1927, in Arden, Manitoba, to Albert and Sarah McGorman in Arden, Manitoba. In 1935, when his father died, the family moved to Neepawa. There is no information available regarding his military service, however Don served in some capacity during World War II. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Amos, on December 17, 1949 and they lived in Nanaimo, British Columbia where they raised three children. He worked as a body mechanic and retired as an estimator at ICBC. Don passed away on November 15, 2017 in Nanaimo. McGORMAN, Halton George WWII Private George McGorman was born in 1921 to Walter and Ida (Stevens) McGorman in Glenholm, near Arden. In 1939, he enlisted in the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada and served overseas where he saw action in the battle at Dieppe. He met and married his wife, Evelyn Rosalie, in London, England and they returned to Canada. They farmed in the Salisbury District and then later moved to the family farm in Glenholm until retiring to Neepawa. George passed away in Brandon on February 21, 1990 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Lot 1, Block 7, Range 23.
