177 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca KOHINSKI, Anthony Stanley WWII Stanley was born on March 21, 1918, in Polonia, Manitoba, the youngest son of Michael and Margaret Kohinski. He received his schooling in Polonia, spending his teenage years in that area working for several farmers. He spent four years in the Armed Forces, joining the Canadian Infantry Corps on April 6, 1944. His tour of duty included time in England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Aleutian Islands. He was with the first troop to cross the Rhine River into Germany. Private Anthony Kohinski was discharged on January 15, 1946 and received the 19391945 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945 and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After returning home, he lived and worked with his brother, Lou. In 1952, he married Joyce Cartwright and started farming east of Riding Mountain, Manitoba. Retiring in 1977 to the town of Riding Mountain, they lived there until they moved to Neepawa, Manitoba in 1999. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. Anthony passed away on April 28, 2000, in Neepawa. LANGLAIS, Francois “Franck” Franck was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1974. He joined the army in 1994 as an artilleryman. He completed basic training in Valcartier, Quebec. In 2005, he changed trades to become a MSE OP (driver) in the logistics branch. His postings included Valcartier, QC; Gagetown, NB; Edmonton, AB; and Shilo, MB. Franck was also deployed to UN tour in Haiti in 1996-1997, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001-2002, Afghanistan in 2008 and 2013, and Ukraine in 2016-2017. Franck is still an active member in the Canadian Armed Forces as a logistic Sergeant of Transport, stationed in Shilo. He became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 79 in Oak Lake, Manitoba in 2022. LARSON, Arthur Clarence WWII Arthur was born in 1923 to Ole and Ida Larson of Dance, Ontario. During World War II, he joined the Royal Canadian Regiment and was killed in action on October 11, 1944. Arthur is buried at Bari War Cemetery in Italy.
