137 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca HALL, Charles Percy WWII Charles was born on October 6, 1911, to Charles and Mabel Ellen (Salter) Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve on September 19, 1942 in Winnipeg and served as Chief Petty Officer on a mine sweeper in the Atlantic during World War II. Chief Petty Officer Charles Percy was discharged in Winnipeg on October 23, 1945. Charles had married Audrey Frances Fleet on December 23, 1941 in Neepawa and it was there that they raised their family. He spent his life working as a farmer and later as a plumber. Charles belonged to the Anglican Church and was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23 for 49 years. He passed away in Neepawa on October 6, 1997 and was buried there in Riverside Cemetery, Lot 13, Block 6, Range 1. HALLIDAY, Alexander Clark “Alex” WWI Alex was born on April 22, 1887, to Alex and Jane (Miller) Halliday in Mekiwin, in the Lansdowne Municipality. He served in the Army with the 22 Regiment Depot Battalion of the Canadian Engineers Training Depot in the United Kingdom and in France during World War I. Sapper Alexander Halliday received his discharge on May 7, 1919 and returned to the Mekiwin area. Alex passed away in 1965 and was buried there at the Mekiwin Cemetery. HANSON, Charles H. WWII Charles was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina in April 1942 and served as a Wireless Instructor in Canada during World War II. Corporal Charles Hanson was discharged in Winnipeg in May 1945. Charles was married to Leila O’Sullivan. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23 for 43 years from 1954 to 1997. Charles passed away on October 28, 1997.
