He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg on June 5, 1945 and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England during World War II. Private Bert Graves was discharged in Winnipeg on June 21, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. Bert passed away on September 11, 2009. GUINN, James Arnold “Jim” WWII Jim was born on December 22, 1915, in Neepawa, Manitoba. In his younger years, he helped with the NCI hockey team when they won the Manitoba Championship in 1938 and also the intermediate team when they won the Manitoba Championship in 1937. Jim enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on February 3, 1942 and served in England, Ireland, and North Africa with the 425 Squadron. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp andWar Medal 1939-1945. After the war, he returned to Neepawa where he and two brothers operated the family business Guinn Bros. Memorials. Jim retired in 1985. On March 5, 1949, Jim married Bernice Frazer of Clanwilliam and raised Ken and Marilee. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. Jim died on July 18, 1991, in Neepawa. GUINN, William John WWII William was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on October 31, 1920. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on February 2, 1942 and served with the Europe Tactical Air Group 83 Photo Section, 425 Alouette Squadron during World War II. He participated in the liberation of BergenBelsen doing dozens of photos and stories. He served in the United Kingdom, France, Holland and Germany. He was discharged in 1946. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23.
