109 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca DRAYSON, Charles Dixon WWI Charles was born on June 15, 1895, to Thomas and Eliza (Austin) Drayson in Neepawa, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Army on June 4, 1918 in Winnipeg to serve during World War I. He served in France and in Belgium until his demobilization on January 9, 1919. After the war, he returned home to the farm in Mentmore and married Gladys Hockin on November 3, 1922. Charles passed away on September 12, 1972 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Lot 3, Block 4, Range 17. DRAYSON, Percy William WWI Percy was born on November 9, 1889, to Thomas and Eliza (Austin) Drayson in Mentmore, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Army on May 23, 1916 and served with the University Battalion No. 116 of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. During his time in the war, he was gassed and wounded, which contributed to his early death. He received his discharge in 1918. On his return to Canada, He went back to the home farm and on November 2, 1921, he married Myrtle Whelpton. Percy passed away on October 21, 1934 in Brandon and was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Lot 16, Block 4, Range 10. DRAYSON, Wilbur Henry Dixon WWII Wilbur was born in Mentmore, Manitoba on March 3, 1917. He enlisted in the Army on March 25, 1942 in Winnipeg and served with 8 Canadian LAA Regiment RCA in England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on February 23, 1946 in Winnipeg. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 Star, and War Medal 1939-1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23. He was married to Irene. Wilbur passed away on October 16, 1997.
