She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division in Halifax in February 1942 and served in Canada as an x-ray technician. Corporal Greta Deminsky was discharged in Halifax in December 1945. Her husband was Frank. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. Greta passed away on June 16, 2010. DENOON, John Douglas WWII John was born in Rosedale, Manitoba on November 13, 1918. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, Seaforth Highlanders Vehicle Pool in the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean, Italy and northwest Europe. He was discharged on August 16, 1945. John received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was married to Roberta and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Neepawa Branch 23 for 52 years from 1948 to 2000. John passed away on December 1, 2000. DEWAR, John R. A. WWII John was born in 1918 in Gladstone. He started with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radar technician on April 10, 1941. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, India and Burma. While serving in India, he was seriously ill with a combination of malaria, jaundice and erysipelas and was very fortunate to survive. During his service, he was promoted three times and attained the rank of sergeant upon his discharge on August 14, 1945. He returned home to Gladstone where he went to work at Dewar’s Café and Bakery, the Gladstone Post Office and retired as postmaster in Gillam, Manitoba. He was a lifetime member of The Royal Canadian Legion Gladstone Branch 110. John passed away from heart disease in March 1984.
