He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg on November 20, 1941 and served as a Private in Europe during World War II. His service number was 64771. He was discharged in Winnipeg on November 12, 1945 and received a Service Medal. CRAVEN, Edwin Richard WWII Edwin was born in Winnipeg on April 14, 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force in Winnipeg in December 1942 and served as a Leading Aircraftman overseas during World War II. His service number was 210428. He was discharged in Winnipeg on March 1, 1946. Edwin received a Service Medal. CRAWFORD, Kenneth WWII Kenneth was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force #432 Squadron serving in England. Kenny died on January 3, 1944, at the age of nineteen and is commemorated at the Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery in Brandenburg, Germany. He was the son of William and Winnifred Crawford and brother of Gordon Crawford and sister Florence Arndt of Roblin, Manitoba. When the military recruiters came to the high school, Kenny was one of the first to sign up even though he was only 17 years old. He had a vibrant and outgoing personality, always seeking adventure and quickly rose through the military ranks. His brother, Gordon, was also killed several months later and their pictures remained on their grandmother’s bureau until her death. She was very proud of their medals and showed them to every visitor to her house.
