79 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca CHISHOLM, Lawrence Glen WWII Lawrence was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan on August 3, 1909. He enlisted in the Army in Regina in October 1940. Lawrence served as a Trooper with the Canadian Armoured Corps in Canada during World War II. His service number was L-22656. He was discharged in Montreal in June 1941 receiving the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Lawrence married his wife Margaret and they had four children: Valerie, Jeanne, Sharon, Larry. CHLAN, Edward WWII Edward was born in Goodeve, Saskatchewan on August 13, 1921. He enlisted in the Navy in Saskatoon on March 13, 1942 and served overseas as a Seaman during World War II. His service number was V52951. He was discharged in Saskatoon on November 21, 1945 and received a Service Medal. Edward and his wife Margaret had two children, Marlene and Graham. CLARK, Edward “Ed” WWII Ed was born in England in June 1904 and came to Canada with his mother as a young boy. As a young man, he worked in the farming community of Cameron, and with Arthur Shaw, as a mechanic. During this time, Ed worked seasonally with the Canadian Pacific Railroad. At the age of 36, Ed joined the Army in Brandon, Manitoba, in July 1940. He took his military training in Borden, Ontario with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. By this time, Ed was married to Barbara Yule from Newdale, with two children, James and Alice. The family moved with him to Barrie, Ontario, while he was in training and came back to Manitoba when Ed went overseas in 1941. Between the years of 1941 and 1945, he served in England, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Holland. His rank when he was discharged was Sergeant. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Ed took a job as fireman with the C.P.R. As time progressed, he became an engineer and retired after 43 years of dedication to the company. He was a lifetime member of The Royal Canadian Legion Gen. Hugh Dyer Branch 138 in Minnedosa. Ed passed away in 1995.
