He enlisted in the Army in Regina on October 29, 1918 serving with the 1st Depot Battalion. He was discharged in Regina on September 20, 1919. He received the Service Medal and Victory Medal. Donat, a widower, had two children: Gea and Yvonne. CHARTRAND, Donald W. WWII Donald was born on June 3, 1915. He had a sister Mrs. George Bartlett. He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg on September 9, 1939 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers as a Sapper in Canada and overseas during World War II. His service number was H-13155. Donald was discharged in Winnipeg on October 23, 1941. CHESTER, Oliver W. WWII Oliver was born in Reston, Manitoba, in 1919. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry in Winnipeg and served overseas in England. He was head cook in the Officer’s Mess and was on guard duty watching the German planes when he was wounded by shrapnel and spent four months in hospital in England. He was made a Life Member of the Reston Branch 106 of The Royal Canadian Legion and ran Bingos for 25 years. Oliver passed away in Reston in 2002.
