He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the summer of 1942 and took his initial training at several British Commonwealth Air Training Schools in Canada. He graduated in 1943 as an Air Bomber, and in September of that year he was shipped overseas to England and was transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force, Squadron 467.While flying on his first mission over enemy territory in September 1944, their Lancaster Bomber was shot down and Earl and all his fellow Australian crew members were killed. At the time of his death, Earl had attained the rank of Flight Sergeant. He is buried in the Durnbach War Cemetery, Bad Tolz, Bayern, Germany. BURTON, Charles L. WWI Charles was born in Elder Mills, Ontario, on July 27, 1897. He joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Forces and served in Canada, Europe and Great Britain. He was a member of Boissevain Branch 10 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Charles passed away in 1982. BURTON, Frank R. WWI Frank was born in Woodbridge, Ontario, in 1885. He joined the Black Watch-94th Overseas Battalion and served in Canada, England and Northwest Europe. Frank passed away in 1973.
