43 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca BOYD, Amos A. A. WWII Amos was born on January 23, 1918, to Tom and Etta Boyd of Ninga. He joined the Winnipeg Rifles Wing (The Little Black Devils) in Brandon, Manitoba, on June 27, 1940, at 23½ years old. He worked at different jobs; one, as a bus driver for many years. He married Dona Whitfield on November 11, 1950, and had one daughter, Shirley (Linstick). He was discharged on August 20, 1941, with good conduct because he was unable to meet the required military physical standards. He passed away on June 6, 1981, of a heart attack exactly 43 years to the day of his father’s passing. He’s buried in the Rosewood Gardens in Brandon, Manitoba. Amos was a member of Brandon Branch 3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 25 years. BOYD, Angus R. WWI Angus was born in SW 27-2-19 in 1897. He joined the Army and served in Canada, England and France. He passed away in 1927. BOYD, Edgar G. WWI Edgar was born in Ninga, Manitoba, on December 4, 1899. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces 1st Depot Battalion Winnipeg and served in Manitoba. He was discharged on December 16, 1918. He was also trained by the Army as a barber and returned to Ninga and farmed in the Ninga, Manitoba, and Bluesky/Fairview, AB, areas for the rest of his life. He returned to Boissevain in 1975 and passed away on April 11, 1986, and is buried in the Boissevain Cemetery. He was a member of Killarney Branch and Boissevain Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion.
