He enlisted in the Army in Flin Flon in February 1942 and serve with the Grenadiers during World War II. He was discharged in Winnipeg in April 1943. His service number was H7093. Lloyd received the Victory Medal. VRABLE, George WWII Private George Vrable was born on January 19, 1902. He enlisted in the Army in Saskatoon on February 26, 1941 and served with the RCOC in Europe during World War II. He was discharged in Regina on November 7, 1945. His service number was L-9341. George received the Service Medal. WACHNIAK, John WWII John was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1922 and moved toWinnipeg, Manitoba in 1930. He joined the Army in 1943 at Fort Osborne Barracks and completed his training in Shilo, MB and Debert, NS. He served with the Perth Regiment, 5th Division, 8th Army in Italy. After the war, John married Anne Budzan in 1947 and raised three children, Ron, Dennis, and Jo-Anne and enjoyed eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. John wore the Palm Leaf and was a Life Member of the Ukrainian Canadian Veteran’s Legion Branch 141 for over sixty years, serving as 3rd Vice President and many years as Sergeant-at-Arms before he passed away in March 2011.
