He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Windsor in July 1941 and served overseas during World War II. He was discharged in Winnipeg on January 22, 1946. His service number was R-164382. James received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the Defence of GB Medal. TURNER, Ross Fergus WWII L/Cpl Ross Turner was born in Carroll, Manitoba on October 11, 1913. He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg on June 29, 1944 and served with the C.A. (A) 3rd Coy, 103 C.I.B.T.C. in Canada during World War II. He was discharged in Winnipeg on April 25, 1946. His service number was H-23309. Ross received the Service Medal. He was married to Yvonne and they had two children, Marie and Douglas. TURRILL, Austin H. WWII Austin was born in Cartwright, Manitoba, the Mylor District in 1923, and worked on a farm in the Neelin Valley until he joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles RCIC. He was with the Canadian Forces in the invasion on Normandy and was wounded twice.While in hospital for the second time, he died of pneumonia at age 21 on Saturday, November 18, 1944. Austin is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, United Kingdom. He received the War Medal 1939-1945, Star OVS Medal, France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal.
