He joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force serving in Canada, England and Europe as an ambulance driver. Soon after his return home, he emigrated to California and was a very active member of The Canadian Legion Hollywood Post. Harold passed away in 1967. McGREGOR, Frank J. S. WWI Frank was born in Brandon, Manitoba, in 1894. He joined the 61st Battalion in Winnipeg on October 15, 1915, serving in Canada, England and France. After fourteen months in England, Frank went to France where he was wounded in the battle of Somme. He passed away in 1961, and is buried in the Veterans’ section of the Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba. McILVEEN, Thomas WWI Thomas was born on May 4, 1889, in Belfast, Ireland. He served one year with the 4th Royal Irish Rifles before coming to Canada. On December 17, 1914, he enlisted with the 100th Battalion CEF (2nd Winnipeg Grenadiers). On January 1, 1915, he moved to the 44th Battalion CEF, and later receiving a discharge on August 9, due to a family medical problem. On August 16, he enrolled with his last unit, the 61st Battalion CEF (106 Winnipeg Light Infantry) and on August 26, 1915, Tom’s unit left Winnipeg for England. His wife, 20-year-old Mary Jenkins, was notified in January 1917 that Tom was killed in action on November 27, 1916. He was 27 years old. Mary’s brother, Francis, was previously killed in action on October 8, 1916. They both rest in France.
