155 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca JOYCE, Llewellyn E. R. WWII Llewellyn was born in Birtle, Manitoba, in 1915. He enlisted in the Army in 1940, stationed at Camp Shilo and Camp Borden, and served in England and North Africa for a short time en route to Italy. He was involved in the push on Casino beyond Rome for nineteen months. He then left for Holland in February 1945 via Marseilles, France, and Belgium for service until the end of the war. He married Jessie Munro in 1946, and they had four children. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Express Company for fourteen years out of Binscarth and fifteen years out of Brandon, MB. Llewellyn passed away in 2002. KIEBUZINSKI, Kazimierz J. “John” WWII Kazimierz was born in Lwow, Poland, in 1907. He joined the RAF Fighter Command 303rd Squadron in 1939. As Germany invaded Poland, he escaped to England where the Polish Air Force was reassembling. He flew a Spitfire with the 303rd from RAF Northolt during the Battle of Britain until he was shot down and wounded. He was then in charge of the Motor Transport section at Northolt. When the second front started, he went to Europe with 131st Wing giving air cover to the Canadian Ground Forces. After the war, he married Rae Russell, a WAAF he had met at Northold, and immigrated to Canada in 1948 where he eventually became the owner/operator of the Ear Falls Garage and Service for 18 years until his health failed in 1971. John joined the Kenora Legion Branch in 1949 and became a Charter Member of the Ear Falls Branch #238 of The Royal Canadian Legion in 1955, where he served until his death in 1983. KIMBER, Henry L. WWII Henry was born in Manitoba in 1920 and joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He passed away in 1983.
