He joined the PPCLI in 1942, taking his basic training in Shilo, Manitoba, and then transferred to Debert, Nova Scotia, serving in Canada. Rueben passed away in 1988 and had been a member of Souris Branch 60 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years. HOLM, Albert V. WWII Albert was born in Cypress River, Manitoba, in 1918. He joined the H.Q. Squadron (Fort Garry Horse) and 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade and served in Canada and England. He passed away in 1997 and had been a member of the Arborg Branch 161 and Brandon Branch 3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 42 years. HONEY, Cynthia Mary Elva WWII Cynthia was born in Binscarth, Manitoba, in 1911. She joined the Army Medical Corps as a nursing sister serving in England, Sicily and Italy. She was slightly injured in an air raid on Sicily. She went back to England and received the Royal Red Cross Medal from King George VI as mentioned in the King’s Canadian NewYear’s Honours list of 1945.When the war was over, she continued her studies at McGill and Massachusetts Universities. Cynthia married Gaylord Brink in 1952. She died of cancer in Montreal in 1987.
