143 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca GLAWSON, John H. WWII John was born in Hartney, Manitoba, on May 26, 1923. He enlisted in the Canadian Artillery at Brandon, MB, on November 19, 1941, and served in Canada and overseas. After the war, he spent time in Camp Borden and England. Returning to Canada, he went to British Columbia to help fly a balloon barrage for a Bond Dive. He was discharged on January 19, 1946, and received his papers in February of that year. On July 26, 1947, he married Vera Clark. They had two children and built a home with help from the Veterans Land Act in 1955. John was the owner of Glawson Painting and Decorating Ltd. from 1959 to 1983 and held most offices, chaired most committees, and was President in 1964 of the Brandon Builder’s Exchange. In 1994, he received the Ben Wiebe Award from the Brando Builder’s Exchange for his contribution to his profession and community. John spent a few months in Deer Lodge Hospital in 1947 with a swollen knee. He had congestive heart failure and passed away of lung cancer in 2003. He was a member of Hartney Branch 26 and Brandon Branch 3 of The Royal Canadian Legion for over forty years. GLOIN, George Neil WWII George was born in Durham, Ontario on September 28, 1926. He enlisted in the Army in London, Ontario on September 3, 1944 and served as a Sapper. His service number was A-111254. He was discharged in London, Ontario on October 8, 1945. George reenlisted, this time in the Royal Canadian Air Force, in Aylmer, Ontario on July 14, 1946 and served at the rank of LAC. His service number was 15642. He was discharged in Centralia, Ontario in July 1951. George was married to Helen and they had two children Gennie Marie and James Harold. GODIN, Charles Roger KOREANWAR Charles was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on September 24, 1931. He enlisted in the Army on August 17, 1950 being discharged in February 1957 with the United Nations Service Medal, Canadian Korea Medal, and a U.S. Citation. His service number was SM800335.
