He enlisted in the Army in June 1942 and served with the Manitoba Horse in Canada and overseas during World War II. Private Herbert Chute was discharged on October 24, 1945. He and his wife Beverly had one daughter, Sharon. CHYZZY, F. Pr ivate F. Chyzzy served in Canada and overseas with the Winnipeg Grenadiers. CLAKE, Alice WWII Alice Clake was born in Morden, Manitoba. In 1933, she took her nurses training at Carman Hospital, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Alice was working in Pine Falls Hospital in the fall of 1939 when she received word about No. 5 Canadian General Hospital mobilizing in Winnipeg. Alice joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on December 28,1939. On June 20, 1940 she arrived in Liverpool, England with the first contingent of nursing sisters and was stationed at a hospital in Taplow, London. As part of the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy in July 1943, the nursing sisters from No. 5 Hospital arrived at Augusta, Sicily on July 19, 1943. Alice spent the next twenty months of the campaign in numerous field and base hospitals in different locations throughout Sicily and Italy. Alice departed Italy in February 1945 and by April 1945, Alice was home. Her discharge date was December 29, 1945, after six years and one day in uniform. Alice passed away in 1998.
