41 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca BOGGS, Elvin Leonard WWII Elvin was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan on May 21, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina on November 7, 1941 and served in Canada on ground and air during World War II. Pilot Officer Boggs was discharged on April 11, 1945 and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. BOILY, Ernest WWII Ernest was born in La Broquerie, Manitoba in 1919, the eldest of six children. On September 1, 1939, at the age of twenty, he enlisted with the Army with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, 1st Regiment. Ernest’s regiment was shipped to England in December 1939. His regiment was in London as well as on the shores of Dover when the blitz took place from September 7, 1940 to May 11, 1941. Ernest’s regiment belonged to the 1st Canadian Infantry Division which took part in the invasion of Sicily in July 1943.While he was in Sicily, he contracted malaria and was sent by hospital ship to North Africa. From there, Ernest was sent to Avalino, Italy and by request was transferred to the Canadian Provost Corps. While with the CPC, Ernest served in France, Holland, Germany and Belgium. Prior to going overseas, Ernest met and married Eva Gosselin in 1939. In 1945, Ernest returned to Winnipeg. He and Eva had two children: Ronald Boily (1947) and Richard Boily (1957). Ernest also had one grandson, Jarrett Harel. He was self-employed as a taxi driver for Duffy’s Taxi for over twenty years. Ernest was a longstanding member of the Lions Club and served as President for one year. He was also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Norwood Branch. BOISSONAULT, Cyprien D. “Cyp” WWII Cyprien enlisted in the Royal Air Force in Winnipeg on January 27, 1941 and served with the AIC2, TTS during World War II.
