He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, obtained his wings at Yorkton in 1942, and left for overseas immediately, serving in several theatres of war including the Middle East. Sergeant Pilot Bruce Berven received the Distinguished Flying Medal for services while on operational duty. He was reported missing in action and was presumed dead. Besides his parents, he left behind three brothers, Wing Commander J. L. Berven in the East, Stewart with the RCC and Leonard, farming in Qu’Appelle. BETT, Roy WWII Roy was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan in 1919. He joined the Army and served during World War II with the Saskatoon Light Infantry in Central Europe. Roy was wounded in action in Sicily and was sent to a hospital in North Africa. BIGELOW, Homer Edwin WWI Homer was born in Kings Point, Nova Scotia in 1874. He enlisted in the Army and served overseas in France with the 5th Battalion during World War I. Homer was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Flin Flon Branch 73. He received the General Service Medal and the Victory Medal. Homer passed away in 1942.
