GREGOR (PATERSON), Elizabeth Mabel “Betty” WWII Betty was born on March 5, 1926 in Devlin, Ontario to Alfred and Emily Paterson. Betty was one of seven children. She joined the Women’s Army Corp on April 8, 1943 and was demobilized to return to Civil Life on September 23, 1946. Betty married Walter Gregor on June 30, 1947 and they had five children together: Robert, Daniel, Susan, Karen, and Kathryn. Betty worked as a mother and wife full time, then found time to go back to school and eventually work as executive assistant for several Chiefs of Police in Thunder Bay. Betty was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6 in Thunder Bay for 42 years. She was always proud of her military background. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Betty passed away in 2013. GRONBECK, Norman WWII Norman worked at a Freight Transport in Hudson, Ontario. He served in World War II with the 50 (RAF) Squadron. While serving overseas in St. Nazaire, France, Norman was killed on July 25, 1944. He is buried in Pontchateau Communal Cemetery.
