97 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca FLEMING, Alexander M. PEACETIME Alexander was born in Witbank, Province of Transvaal, South Africa in 1937. He enlisted in the Air Force on February 1, 1954. He took his basic training at St. Jean, Quebec then went to Camp Borden. He trained as an Aeroengine Technician on the Lancaster at Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Alexander served with 404 Squadron in Canada during Peacetime. He was discharged on February 1, 1957. He was a member of Legion Branch 63 for fifty years. Alexander passed away in 2010. FLEMING, William PEACETIME William was born in Witbank, Province of Transvaal, South Africa in 1935. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on January 18, 1954. He did basic training at Cornwallis and then went to the Communications School. After completing the course, he was posted to sea. He served aboard HMCS Jamesbay, Ontario, Assiniboine, Stettler, Restigouche and Gatineau. He served as the Regulating Chief at the Fleet School and as an EW Expert originating a new training package for the Fleet School and ships. He was a 25 year career sailor. William passed away in 1998. FOLKETT, W. M. WWII W. M. Folkett was born in Nottingham, England to parents Fred and Anne Folkett. He enlisted at Winnipeg and trained there and at Shilo. He worked for Harold and Jim Aiken, Neelin Bros. and Lorne McLaren and travelled for Perth Cleaners. He married Wilda Shaw of Neelin, Manitoba. He served Baldur for about four years and then moved to Killarney, Manitoba where he was a driver salesman.
