95 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca FINNSON, Oscar E. WWII Oscar was born in Riverton, Manitoba to Mr. and Mrs. Gudjon Finnson. He enlisted at Winnipeg in 1941 in the 15th Field Regiment RCA. He trained at Shilo, Manitoba; Truro, Nova Scotia and at Sussex, New Brunswick. Overseas he served in England and North-West Europe. Oscar was one of three brothers who served overseas. He worked as a labourer in the Icelandic district north of Baldur for some 25 years and made his home with Ingi Johannesson. After which point, he lived in Little Bull Head, Manitoba where he was a commercial fisherman. FISETTE, Albert H. J. WWII Albert was born in Winnipeg in 1923. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Corps of Royal Canadian Electronical and Mechanical Engineers in Canada during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He received the Volunteer Medal and the Honourable Discharge Medal. He was a member of St. James Legion Branch 4 for 36 years. Albert passed away in 1996. FISHER, Edwin J. “Ted” WWII Edwin was born in Deal, Kent, England, the son of Jack and Margaret Fisher. He enlisted at Winnipeg in the RCAF and trained at St. Thomas, Ontario. He was stationed at Dafoe, Saskatchewan and overseas with 430 Fighter Squadron, part of the 39th Reconnaissance Wing in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He has been SecretaryTreasurer for RM of Grey in Elm Creek, Manitoba. He married Anne L. Strang of Baldur on July 8, 1950. They had a son, Gordon and a daughter, Margaret.
