69 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca CLUFF, Bernard B. “Bernie” KOREA Bernard was born in The Pas, Manitoba on May 27, 1931 and moved to Flin Flon at an early age. He enlisted in the Army in Edmonton, Alberta on August 12, 1949, serving in Korea and in Japan with the PPCLI during the Korean War. He was discharged in Winnipeg on March 30, 1952. Bernie was a member of Legion Branch 73 for sixty years and served as President of the branch as well as District Commander of 1A North. He received the US Presidential Citation for the Battle of Kapyong Hill. Bernie passed away in April 2016. COBBE, Robert Annsley “Victor” WWII Victor was born in Baldur, Manitoba, the son of Robert and Rebecca Cobbe. He enlisted in November 1942, training at Fort Garry and Borden, Ontario. He served in the United Kingdom, Africa, Italy and Holland. He married Anna G. Jablonski on March 2. They had one daughter Colleen Desa Cobbe and resided in Selkirk, Manitoba. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion 42 in Selkirk. COLLINS, James Henry WWII James was born in Glenora, the son of Richard and Mary Grace Collins. He enlisted in Winnipeg in 1941 and trained at Debert, Nova Scotia and Shilo, Manitoba. He was accidentally wounded in the head while on guard duty at Debert Camp on July 15, 1942. He married Aileen Larsen in 1945 and they lived in Edmonton where he was employed in the hotel supplies industry. The couple had four daughters and three sons.
