65 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca CHOQUETTE, Thaddy WWII Thaddy was born in Mariapolis on October 28, 1910, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Choquette of Glenora. He enlisted in the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in 1940 and went overseas in 1941. He paid the supreme sacrifice and was killed in action. CHRISTIE, Margaret WWII Margaret was born in 1925 in Harding, Manitoba. She joined the Air Force and served from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. She trained in Ottawa, CFB Rockcliffe, Ontario, and Toronto. She was then sent to Yorkton, Saskatchewan and eventually to Winnipeg. Margaret was a clerk typist and operated the telephone switchboard along with keeping track of flying times for all of the pilots. After leaving the Army, she worked at restaurants, income tax and care homes, including Central Park Lodge. She married Albert Christie and they had one daughter and one son. She is a member of Norwood Legion Branch 43. Margaret is still living in Winnipeg. CHRISTOPHERSON, Alvin WWII Alvin was born in Grund, Manitoba, the son of John S. and Vala Christopherson. He married Edith Ireland in Vancouver in 1939. They had two sons, James, Captain in the US Air Force and Michael in the US Army. Alvin enlisted at San Francisco in the US Army and trained at Camp Wallace, Texas and at Fort Ord, California. Alvin served overseas in the South Pacific. He lived in Mate, California, USA after the war.
