39 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca BJORNSON, Lloyd WWII Lloyd was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and lived in Winnipeg where he was employed as a mechanic. He enlisted in Winnipeg in March 1944, was stationed at Mont-Joli, Quebec and served overseas at Topcliff, Yorkshire, England. Lloyd and Edith had a daughter Mrs. Clifford Bjorklund. BJORNSON, Paul Ingolfur WWII Paul was born in Baldur in 1917, the son of Andrea and Gustav Bjornson. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and went overseas in 1942. In September 1943, he arrived in Sicily and served in the Mediterranean theatre until the end of the war. At the end of World War II, Paul returned to Canada briefly where he was joined by his English bride. In 1948, they returned to England where they resided. Paul visited Canada in October 1967 to attend his parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary in Belmont. BJORNSON, Sigurjon “Siggi” WWII Siggi was born in Baldur, Manitoba, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Bjornson. He lived at East Kildonan and was employed as an Aircraft Inspector. Siggi enlisted in Winnipeg in September 1940, trained at Winnipeg and Camp Shilo, and served overseas in England, Sicily, Italy and Holland. Siggi earned first place in the Canadian Army’s mile-run with a time of four minutes and thirty seconds.
