243 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca WALTERSON, Frederick WWII Frederick, son of the late Johannes and Gudbjorg Walterson of Selkirk, was born on January 5, 1918 at Bru, near Cypress River, Manitoba. He entered the service on March 2, 1942 and served at Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Vancouver, Vernon and Victoria where he served as a batsman. He married Catherine Young of Cypress River on June 14, 1941. Fred lived in Brandon. WARGA, Darryl PEACETIME Darryl was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1968. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg and took basic training at HMCS Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. Darryl went to CFB in North Bay; he spent five years on Teydal Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida, returned to North Bay and is currently stationed in Winnipeg. WARGA, Duane PEACETIME Duane was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1968. He joined The Royal Canadian Navy in Winnipeg, took his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis, and then went to HMCS Esquimalt. Duane served aboard HMCS Restigouche during Peacetime.
