215 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca SISSONS, Gordon WWII Gordon, son of the Fred Sissons of Cypress River, Manitoba, joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers in September 1939 and served sixteen months in Jamaica before he was sent to Hong Kong where he was taken Prisoner of War in December 1941. Gordon was married and lived in Vancouver. SISSONS, Morley WWII Morley, the son of the Fred Sissons, was born in Cypress River in May 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in February 1942 and went overseas in August that year. He served overseas for three years in Holland, Sicily and Germany. Morley was married and lived in Vancouver. SKAFTFELD, Sigurdur Edwin WWII Edwin was born in Baldur, the son of Olgeir and Gudrun Skaftfeld. He enlisted at Winnipeg in July 1944, trained at Red Deer with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and was stationed at Sussex, New Brunswick. He was discharged in November 1945. He married Inga Helgason on June 12, 1948 and they lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where he was Regional Manager of Federated Co-operatives Ltd. They had four children: Diane, Wendy, Robert and Kimberly.
