He enlisted in the Canadian Army at Gordon Head, British Columbia on April 10, 1944 and served with the Canadian Infantry Corps in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and North Pacific Area during World War II. He was discharged from the service at the rank of Private in February 1946 to return to civilian life upon demobilization. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, 1939-1945 Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-1945, and the France and Germany Star. Paul passed away on November 4, 1992 and was a member of the Thunder Bay Legion Branch 6. McKIE, Allan F. WWII Allan was born in Keewatin, Ontario on January 10, 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served during World War II. He belonged to Keewatin Legion Branch 13 and at one time served as Branch President. Allan passed away on February 23, 2004. McKIE, Allan P. WWI Allan was born in Maybole, Scotland in 1893. He enlisted in the Army on May 25, 1915 and arrived in France in February 1916. He served with the 52nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry during World War I. He was involved in the Battle of Mount Sorrel on June 2. During a two-week battle, the Canadian Corp had eight thousand casualties. Allan died of wounds on June 5, 1916 and was buried in the Lyssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium. There are 1,050 Canadians buried there, three hundred of which died during the Battle of Mount Sorrel.
