151 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LEE, Frank WWII Frank was born in Baldur, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Foon. Frank enlisted in Winnipeg with the Canadian Infantry Corps and trained at Fort Garry and Camp Shilo. While undergoing advanced training, he was recruited by the British Intelligence to serve in Special Force 136 which was detailed to carry out intelligence and espionage work behind enemy lines in the Far East. He trained in London and India for this Force. He married Corinne Barber in June 1954 and they had four children: Richard, Terrence, Elin and Marcy. The family resided in Burnaby, British Columbia where he was employed as an electrical engineer. LEE, Kwong “Kenneth” “Ken” WWII Ken was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Foon. He was born in Canton, China and came to Canada in 1920. He enlisted in the RCAF and upon graduation as a wireless operator, he topped his class. He was married and lived in Vancouver. LEE, Oscar WWII Oscar was born in Baldur, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Foon. He enlisted in Regina, trained at Maple Creek and served overseas in England and India in the South East Asia Command under Lord Louie Mountbatten. Oscar married Jean Siew Ching Choo in Winnipeg on December 1, 1970. They had a son, Paul Phillip. He operated the Lucky Dollar Store, the former business place of his father.
