133 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ISBERG, Martin Oscar WWII Martin was born in Dunrea, Manitoba in 1911, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bjorgvin Isberg. He enlisted at Winnipeg and trained at Portage la Prairie with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He was stationed at Kingston, Ontario and overseas in Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and England. He married Unnur Sveinson in 1937. They had a daughter, Myrna, and two sons, Brian (deceased) and Garry. ISFORD, Einar Saemundur WWII Einar was born in Winnipeg the son of Augusta and Kristjan Isford (foster parents Tryggvi and Sigrun Johnson formerly of Baldur). He enlisted in Winnipeg in 1942, trained at Brandon, Lachine, Camp Borden, Galt and Mount Pleasant, PEI and served overseas in England, Belgium, Holland and France. He married Edith Sigurdson in July 1951 and they later had four children. They lived at Holland, Manitoba and Einar was employed with the Department of Highways. ISFELD, Kristjan Gudbjorn “Kris” WWII Kris was born in Argyle Municipality, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kjartan Isfeld. He enlisted in Winnipeg on November 9, 1959 and trained at St. Jean, Quebec, Saskatoon and was stationed at Namoa, Alberta, Rivers and CFS Gypsumville, Canadian Armed Forces. He was awarded the Safe Driver Award in November 1970. He married Eleanor Elsie Hackenschmidt on July 2, 1960 and they had two children, Karen and Timothy.
