He enlisted in the Army in September 1943 and was a member of the North Shore Regiment. During World War II, he was sent to England in May 1944 and to France on July 13, 1944. He was a Gunner, No. 1 on Bren gun. Chuck was wounded during Operation ‘Tractable’ on August 14, 1944 and returned to Canada. After the war, he was stationed in Shilo. He met the love of his life while on leave in Winnipeg, left the forces and settled in Winnipeg. Chuck passed away in 1981 at 56 years of age. GOLDSTRAND, Douglas M. KOREA Douglas was born in Bowsman, Manitoba in 1930. He enlisted in the Navy and served onboard HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Restigouche on the North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Sea, Mediterranean and Caribbean during the Korean War. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Branch 19 for 47 years. GOODMAN, David Einar WWII David was born in Baldur, the son of John and Sadie Goodman. He enlisted in Winnipeg and trained at St. Thomas, Dorval and was stationed at Dauphin and Sea Island. He lived at Revelstoke, British Columbia where he was a Hardware Dealer and he married Pauline Gudnason in 1944.
