Frank enlisted in Winnipeg and trained at Fort Garry and was stationed in Nanaimo, British Columbia; Petawawa, Ontario and served overseas in England, Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He was discharged with the rank of S.C.T. in 1946. He married Bertha Vaul of Winnipeg in June 1946. They had one daughter, Cathy. He was a member and Past President of the Baldur Legion Branch 108. GILLIES, Charles J. J. “Charlie” WWII Charles, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gillies, was born in Baldur. He joined the PPCLI in January 1940, going overseas in May 1940. Charlie married Christina Patterson of Edinburgh, Scotland in September 1941. They resided in Stonewall. GOETZ, Victor PEACETIME Victor was born in Gladstone, Manitoba in 1960. He joined the Army in the 26th Field Regiment Reserves in Brandon, MB in 1976. He took training in Wainwright, AB and at CFB Shilo, MB. During a United Nation’s tour to Yugoslavia, he was medi-vac’d out and was discharged in 1997. He married Tina Minifie in 2014 and worked as a cook and in electronics until retiring in 2012.
