Jim joined the RCAC 320 Squadron in Rivers, Manitoba in the fall of 1955 with the rank of L.A.C. During his five years of service, he was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant and eventually to Flight Sergeant. During his tour with the Air Cadets, he attended summer training camp in 1956 at Abbotsford Air Base in BC and again in the summer of 1957 at the Sea Island Air Base in BC. Then, in the following summer, he took his flight training in Brandon, MB with the Brandon Flying club and received his wings in 1958 and obtained his Private Pilot License. James became a member of the Royal Canadian Flying clubs Association. Jim left the 320 Squadron in the spring of 1960. HARVEY, Leonard W. WWII Leonard was born in Virden, Manitoba in 1922. He enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. He was a faithful Legion member of the Rivers, Manitoba Branch 75 and served on several executive positions. He and his team of Gord Taylor (skip), Harry Parker and Don Young won the Dominion Legion curling Championship in Summerside, PEI in 1960. Leonard passed away in 1984. HERITAGE (MERRITT), Agnes WWII Agnes was born in Birch River, MB. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1941 in the Food Preparation Trade. She served in Canada, England, and Holland. Agnes was discharged in 1946 as a Corporal. Agnes joined her husband, Alf, on the farm near Elkhorn and together raised four children. They retired in Elkhorn in 1975 and were strong supporters of the Elkhorn Legion Branch 58.
