He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a security guard and became a fireman with the rank of L.A.C.. He served in Shauhnessy,Vancouver during World War II and became a steamfitter. After his discharge in 1945, he started farming and married Margaret Barrett and raised a family of five. They continued farming until 1972 when he died. He was a member of the Birtle Legion Branch 52. FAULKES, Frank B. WWII Frank was born in Carman, Manitoba on April 25, 1920. At the age of 22, he enlisted on December 2, 1942 in Winnipeg in the Canadian Armoured Corps and the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Frank received an honourable discharge on February 26, 1946. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe. Frank received the following medals: 1939 – 1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939 – 1945. He was married 64 years to his wife Pauline (Ellen) and he was father to Darlene, father-in-law to David Broomhead and grandfather to Bryan Scott. Frank passed away on August 28, 2006 in Beamsville, Ontario. FAULKES, George WWII George was born in Carman, Manitoba in 1921. He attended St. Daniel School and worked for local farmers until 1942 when he and brothers, Frank and Bill, joined the Army. He served overseas with the Fifth Division Service Corps in Britain, Italy, Northwest Europe and Holland during World War II. He was honourably discharged in 1946. He received the following medals: 1939 – 1945 Star, France, Italy and Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He passed away in September of 1987 and is buried in Langley, BC.
