He joined the Canadian Army on June 24, 1940 and served with the Seaforth Highlanders in England, Sicily, Italy, and Holland. After some time in England, he took part in the First Canadian Infantry Division assault on Sicily in 1943. He also took part in the Italian Campaign and was in Holland when the war ended. He was discharged on December 11, 1945 as a Sergeant. After the war he moved to British Columbia. DUXBURY, Charles B. WWI Charles was born in Elkhorn, MB. He was educated in Elkhorn and graduated from the University of Manitoba. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served overseas in England and France. Charles was killed in action in 1916 in France. DUXBURY, Oscar B. WWII Oscar was born in Elkhorn, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1940 and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force Aircrew from October 1940 to August 1941 before working in the Safety Equipment Branch as an equipment assistant on various bases in Canada. He was discharged as a Corporal in February 1946 and began farming north of Elkhorn. Oscar has been an active member of Elkhorn Legion Branch 58.
