27 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca BERGESON, Donald A. WWII Donald was born at Erikson, Manitoba in 1925 and was educated at Erikson School. In 1944, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and later transferred to the Army. He was discharged in 1946. On one of his leaves home, he was involved in a motorcycle accident which necessitated the amputation of his right leg and a long stay in Deer Lodge Hospital. He married Marion Magill and was a salesman for supplies to Power Stations and mines. He passed away in 1989 and is buried in Winnipeg. BERGSON, Lloyd M. WWII Lloyd was born at Erickson, Manitoba in 1923. He was educated at Erickson School. In 1940, he joined the Army and served for five years with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Italy and throughout NorthWestern Europe during World War II. Following the war, he worked in mines in Ontario and the North-West Territories. In 1965, he purchased the NW 18-17-18 WI in the R.M. of Clanwilliam where he lived and farmed until his death in 2004. He is buried in Bethel Cemetery at Danvers, N/E of Erickson. He was a member of the Erickson Legion Branch 143. BERRY, William Robert “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Manitou, Manitoba in 1923 and was raised on the family farm in Middleton, MB. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and after basic training was stationed overseas in England working as an airplane mechanic. He was discharged in October of 1945 and returned home and purchased the family farm which he farmed until his death in 2006. He was a member of the Manitou Legion Branch 21 for 61 years.
