He was killed in action. McLAREN, Clarence WWI Clarence was born on August 4, 1897 in the Wigton district, Manitoba. He joined the First Battalion on January 9, 1918 at Brandon, MB, going overseas in March. He went to France where he joined the 27th Battalion in July until the end of the war, and then served in Germany until March 1919. Clarence is deceased. McMANUS, John Earl WWI John was born at Stayner, Ontario, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth McManus. He enlisted at Brandon and trained there and at Winnipeg. He served overseas at Aldershot and Seaforth, England. He is deceased. PIERSON, Francis S. WWI Francis, late of Glenora, was born near Virden, Manitoba, the son of Jacob and Lydia Pierson. He saw service in Canada at Camp Hughes and Winnipeg. Overseas, he was stationed at Brighton and was later killed in action on October 15, 1914. ROWLEY, Wesley Bruce “Wes” WWII Wesley was born at Portage, the son of William John and Bertha Rowley. On October 27, 1940, he married Leona Kriewaldt and lived in Calgary. They had four children. Wes enlisted in Winnipeg. SHAW, William “Billy” WWI William was a lad brought out to this district from England. He was a labourer in the district immediately southwest of Baldur. Billy enlisted while very young and served as a bugler. SIGTRYGGSON, Konrad WWI Konrad was born in Iceland on August 17, 1888, the son of Sigtryggur and Kristin. He enlisted in October of 1915 with the 78th Battalion, going overseas on May 20, 1916. He was wounded twice in battle before being killed in action at Vimy Ridge on March 31, 1917. STEVENS, Alfred H. “Alf” WWI Alfred was born at Baldur, Manitoba on March 28, 1885, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Stevens. On April 7, 1915, he married Hannah Cuthbert. Alf died in October of 1958. SUITOR, William BOER WAR William lived in the Glenora district. He enlisted for service in the Boer War and was killed in action. THOMASSON, Thomas WWII Thomas was born the son of Thorbjorn and Augusta Thomasson. He enlisted in Winnipeg in December of 1939 and trained at Fort Osborne in Winnipeg. He was stationed in Jamaica and then in Hong Kong where he died on October 14, 1942. WELSH, Wilfred Playfair WWI Wilfred was born in 1897 in Kamloops, British Columbia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Welsh. He enlisted at Plunkett, Saskatchewan and received his training in Winnipeg. He died in service in 1916. WILSON, Orville King WWI Orville was born at Mount Forest, Ontario. He came to the R. M. of Argyle and joined the service at Baldur, Manitoba in 1916. He was sent overseas and was killed in action in 1918. WOOD, Robert R. WWII Robert was born in Utica, Minnesota on September 21, 1926. He enlisted in the Army and served from October 27, 1944 to April 9, 1946 in Canada and was discharged by reason of demobilization. He was a member of the Legion Branch 29 before he passed away on April 2, 1993. WOODS, Samuel WWI Samuel was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Woods. They lived in the Glenora district during World War I. He was killed in action. WRIGHT, Horace F. WWII Horace was born on May 14, 1925. He joined the Canadian Army and served with the Fort Garry Horse in the United Kingdom and Europe during World War II.
